Be suspended in awe and silence,
surrounded by cave decorations and a galaxy of
tiny living lights found in the Waitomo Glow-worm
Caves. In geothermal Rotorua, crater lakes are
constantly refilled with hot water, rich mineral
deposits paint the landscape from a multi-colored
palette from white to turquoise, steam escapes from
cracks in cliff faces - and your camera will work
overtime to record the stark beauty and splendor of
the volcanic landscape.
Day 1: Arrive
Auckland Welcome to
Auckland. This afternoon we suggest a city
sightseeing tour with Great Sights.
Day 2: Auckland, Waitomo, Rotorua (226 miles) (lunch
and dinner included) (optional meal plans begin today)
Travel to the fascinating Waitomo Caves where you will
enjoy lunch before a guided tour of the famous Glow-worm
Grotto. Continue on to Rotorua. In the evening
enjoy a Maori Hangi (feast) and Concert.
Day 3: Rotorua Sightseeing
Today experience the many varied sights
that Rotorua has to offer. Visit Te Whakarewarewa Thermal
Reserve. Learn about traditional Maori crafts at Te
Puia, before traveling to Rainbow Springs and
Rainbow Farm Show. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure.
Option: Overnight farmstay
Day 4: Rotorua, Auckland
(150 miles) This morning is at leisure. This
afternoon return to Auckland via the lush dairy farming
region of Waikato.

Day 4: Rotorua/ Wellington (286 miles) Travel to the capital city of
Wellington (Seat-in-Coach option: coach to
Otorohanga
to connect with the Overlander Train to Wellington).
