Packing Tips

What to Bring: Aside from personal items/medical supplies and your valid passport/Visa and money/traveller's cheques, you'll need:

Sunscreen: It is recommended that you purchase sunscreen in New Zealand, rather than bringing it with you. Most sunscreen available in North America is designed to be worn in North America, and doesn't take into account the changes in ozone levels you will encounter in the South Pacific. There are large holes in the ozone layer above New Zealand and Australia, and the UV rays are much stronger here than in North America.

Sunglasses: Highly recommended to protect your eyes from irritation caused by UV rays and environmental conditions. A good hat or cap will also help keep the sun out of your eyes and off your face.

Comfortable Walking Shoes: Make sure they're well broken in before leaving! New Zealand has some of the best walking trails in the world, and you'll most likely spend quite a bit of time on your feet during your stay.

Photo Equipment: Cameras, film, batteries, memory cards, lenses, tripods, and any other equipment you want to bring with you to capture precious memories from your stay in paradise!

Weather Gear: including waterproof jacket/pants are recommended, as well as seasonal clothing. Even if you are planning to visit New Zealand in the summer, you should bring along a sweater and long pants, as the weather in some areas can be unpredictable.

Other Items: Insect repellent, motion sickness tablets (if you plan to travel by boat, train, or usually suffer from motion sickness). Electrical adapter/converter is recommended for any electrical equipment you may want to bring, including chargeable cameras or batteries, hair dryers, curling irons, laptop computers, etc. And don't forget your guidebook and journal to help keep track of your new friends and experiences along the way!

Note: Make sure you check with us before departure for updated information about what you are permitted to bring with you onto the airplane during your flight.
