Day 1 - Arrive
Auckland
Welcome to Auckland, New Zealand’s largest
city, known as the 'City of Sails'.
Day 2 - Auckland,
Waitomo, Rotorua
(226 miles) (lunch and dinner included)
(optional meal plans begin today) Today travel
to the Waitomo Caves for a
guided tour of the famous Glowworm Grotto.
Continue on to Rotorua for a Maori
Hangi (feast) and Concert.
Day 3 - Rotorua
Sightseeing
Experience the many varied sights that Rotorua
has to offer. Visit Te Whakarewarewa
Thermal Reserve and Te Puia,
before traveling to Rainbow Springs
and Rainbow Farm Show. Enjoy
an afternoon at leisure.
Day 4 - Rotorua,
Wellington
(286 miles) Travel to the capital city of Wellington
(Seat-in-Coach option: coach to Otorohanga to
connect with the Overlander Train to
Wellington).
Day 5 - Wellington
Today is at leisure. Make time to visit 'Te
Papa' the Museum of New Zealand.
Day 6 - Wellington, Christchurch
(212 miles, including ferry crossing) Travel
on the Interislander ferry across Cook Strait
to Picton. Join the TranzCoastal train
(Seat-in-Coach only) to Christchurch, where
you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Day 7 -
Christchurch
A day at leisure to enjoy the 'Garden City'.
Day 8 -
Christchurch, Mt. Cook, Queenstown
(369 miles) Today travel by coach through the
MacKenzie country, and view Lake
Tekapo, Aoraki/Mount Cook
National Park, Lindis Pass
and the Kawarau Gorge before
arriving in Queenstown, ‘the adventure
capital’.
Day 9 - Milford
Sound Day Excursion
Travel by coach along the shores of Lake
Wakatipu to Te Anau. From the Homer Tunnel
emerge into the Cleddau Valley. Join your Milford
Sound Red Boat Cruise for an unforgettable
experience. Return to Queenstown.
Day 10 - Queenstown
A free day to enjoy the many activities on
offer.
Day 11 -Queenstown/Franz Josef
(251 miles) Travel north today via Lakes
Wanaka and Hawea.
Enjoy the West Coast scenery through the Haast
Pass and continue on to Franz Josef
Village.
Day 12 -
Franz Josef, Tranzalpine Train, Christchurch
(251 miles) Travel north today via Lakes
Wanaka and Hawea.
